Headers?
i've been looking at headers for the hemi. all the ones i found said i have to modify the y-pipe. but Gibson came out with some that i guess are pretty good. didn't know if anyone else has seen them or bought them yet. or if anyone has found some nice headers out there that work nice with not alot rigging. thanks
From what I've heard in my short time hear, the Y-pipe is the biggest single restrition point on our trucks ehxhaust. So if you do upgrade the headers, it would seem to be for squat if you don't do the Y-pipe too, because you'd have great flow at the headers, the its get squashed at that Y. I've even looked at it and there is a major "dent" on the passenger side down pipe coming into the Y, so IMO its worth the extra $60 or so to get a new y along with headers. Hope this helped ya out.
i have Pacesetter LT's (which i have yet to put on) but i've heard alot of guys saying good things about them, especially for the hemi...it came with a Y-pipe and ceramic coated as well
Shortie headers bolt right up to the stock cats/y-pipe and that's why they're smog legal in all states. Long tube headers have the most power gain from flow/scavenging but are not smog legal in any state and require a diff y-pipe...and like hemiyellow said for a little extra the y-pipe needed will come with some headers. But since the exhaust is no longer smog legal with LT's you might as well ditch the Y and get a X/H..

I also have the Pacesetter LT's and think that they are great for the money. I did a custom job on them to retain the cats to keep some back pressure for low end torque. My fatherco-owned an awning/canapy business when I was growing up, so I've been welding sinceI was about eleven.I have seen them with their Y-pipe though and it's an easy install. Stay away from the shorty's on a Hemi, almost no gains and certainly not enough for the cost. If instpection is an issue, then go with mids...

i can get a inspection sticker that's fine it's my warrety i'm worried about. my dealer told me if i hack the y pipe or put something different in there then it's void. that's why i was looking at the gibson ones. and i put shorties on my camaro and did notice a difference both in sound and power

#2 - A Hemi Truck is NOT a Camaro. The design of the Hemispherical Combustion Chamber requires that there already be a much better air intake/exhaust system design than the GM LS series of engine, or just about any other design for that matter. It already breathes well, that's why flowmaster and some other aftermarket exhaust systems are found to flow worse than stock on a Hemi. It's also why throttle body spacersshowabsolutely NO gains on Hemi's, but Chevy truck guys swear by them. Becauseof this design, dyno's show very slight performance gains, at best, with shorty headers. But it's your truck and your money, so go ahead and spend a grand on shorty headers (because I'm going out on a limb here and guessing you can't install them yourself) and get that whopping 4-6 HP gain for your grand...
Try rpmoutlet.com, they provide longtube headers packaged with magnaflow exhaust. I have them on my 03 QC and is the sweetest sounding truck around. No drone in the cab, deep and mellow but growls loud when you step on it.
