I'm sure all oil filters for all the cars/trucks on the road are made by fram, or puralator, even if they say mopar.

you have WIX, fleetguard, and more!
Hey
Anyone use the TRUFilter, it's the one that's Good Forever, you take it apart and clean the mesh media then put it back together. Damb thing cost $150.00 or more, why I don't know but it's got a *Lifetime warrenty*. Thats 5-7 oil and filter changes, so I guess you'd eventually save something after the 5th oil change because of the $5-15 in filter savings(Fram 4.99 to K&N $15). But does it filter enough out? Any thoughts??
Stay cool, H
*I keep on thinking about "the Guarentee on the box" stick from Tommy Boy as I wrote this.

The more expensive the better right? Not always, I'd be worried about how clean the filter is after several cleanings vs the first time you put it in. Also for 30 bucks TruFilter sells a replacement element, well how often does that need to be replaced, 30 bucks every several changes plus 150 to start doesnt seem like a deal, you ought to at least ask if you should put on lipstick before they "F" you.
Here is an amsoil 25k mile oil filter http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/detail.aspx?ID=6923
And for 15 bucks that equals 10 Amsoil filters to 1 Trufilter, say you run your dodge for 150k miles you can replace the 25k mile filter every 15k miles and come out even, but I'd be more confident in a new filter vs "cleaned" filter. And hey you've got to get under your truck anyways to change it, its not as if you just screw on the TruFilter and forget it.

a reusable oil filter? is that right????

the chance of returning existing contamination to the motor is so high, I wouldnt do it.
now, a reusable air filter is fine. as long as you have the time and patience to clean it properly...
amsoil is a very good quality product.
if you are not sure, try napa gold filters. they are made by WIX. (WIX is high quality)

Perhaps some of our fellow Dodge owners
who are currently in the Army or Marines
could find out what oil filter manufacturer
is currently used on the GM diesel in the Hummers?
There may also be some military use Cummins I6 diesels
in electrical generator/apu service
and it would be interesting to know who won the contract to provide oil filters.
If you can't find a manufacturer mark on a military oil filter
post a picture of
the outside and
a cut-apart inside view
and perhaps others here can id it by shape or drain-back valve style.
