Start it up, fasten my seat belt and idle down the driveway. Go easy 'til the gauge starts to move. Usually takes about five minutes to get heat.

That's exactly what I just did.
What set up did you use for remote start?

Only in the winter do I warm it up. And usually for 15 minutes. My remote start shuts off after 15 minutes anyways. I never warm it up on a hot day because the AC condenser doesn't turn on until I insert the key and turn it on. Otherwise, it would just blow really hot air into an already hot cab.

well i forgot to add that my truck came with remote start from the factory, which is why i warm it up for a few min. I'mtoo lazy to go out and start it and then walk back in. Soooo, that means if i didnt have remote start, i would start it and take it easy till the needle started moving.....i know i'm a lazy ***...haha

I let it warm up for 15-20 min in the winter, and let it run for 5-10 min in the summer, I like to make sure the oil is up to temp. before I leave.

I got the Viper 160XVL from Best Buy, it is a remote start and keyless entry, got it for $250 installed. If you just want a remote start you can get them installed for about $200.

I don't know if it is true, however I seem to remember reading somewhere that allowing your engine to idle for a long time is bad for it? As an example you never want to buy an old police car, etc because of all the idle time. I think that it actually promotes engine wear, etc?
