Default Gas spilling out when pumping..

Anyone else have this problem? No matter which gas station or what pump I use I can't fill up my tank without gas spewing out when it gets full. I'm not topping it off or anything....for some reason the pump doesn't know when my tank is full. Is there something that could be broken inmy gas tank fill nozzle on my truck?

you can try checking for damaged parts on the fiiler neck..... but i think its that you are accidentally toping it off when the pump dont shut off

Exactly my point....none of the pumps are shutting off like they're supposed to so gas comes pouring out all over the side of my truck. I dunno how someone could accidently top it off...it's more of a "you either do it or you don't" thing. Since i've had the truck i've gone to around 4 diffrent Chevrons, several Shells and a few Arcos...they all pour out only with my ram.

BTW...does anyone else not have that metal flap down the neck of the filler? Every vehicle i've had has had it except for this one..

When I fill my 03 up I just stick it in there, pull the handle and walk away. I have never baby sat it or anything and not once have I had gas spill over. Thats weird.

I had this constantly happen to myMegacab. No matter how slow I pumped, or stopped before it topped off, it always burped gas all over the side of the truck. I took it back to the dealer three times before the gave up on the excuses. They first tried to "fix" the filler neck, they ended up swapping out the entire tank. This is a known problem in some tanks. Make the dealer fix it.

I have not had that problem ( thank god ) It does overfill very easily though .when the pump stops i can barely get in another dollar before gas is on the floor

I agree, there must bea problem with the geometry of the system. It could be the fill pipe, it could be the ICV, it could be various things. Just keep complaining until the dealerfixes it.

Regarding the metal flap door, it is not necessary. Those doors were used first during the switch from leaded to unleaded fuel so you couldn't fill your tank with a leaded nozzle by just holding it up to the opening. Chrysler probably finally removed that piece as a cost save. It is truely pointless now.

The pump stops on mine, but that's it. I don't dare try to put anymore in. I did on the first couple of tanks, pump stopped, then squeeze to top her off or get to the closest dollar, and gas all over the side of my truck. I've learned to just stop when the pump quits...
