The sickness is hitten me!!!!!
TD. You are right about going with 10's. While they may not reproduce the super low frequencies as well as larger speakers, they have a better punch and will deliver better kick drum sound, imho. To get a single sub box for the truck, it will cost probably about $80 to get it to you. Like I said before, you can get the Fox Box shipped for $150, which is AWESOME (and I am not the only one to say that...it has been discussed on this forum and dodge talk). You can get some GOOD subs (ones that aren't Pyle, Boss, etc) for $100 - $150, depending on how patient you are with ebay.In fact, here are some Kicker Comp 10's for $120 new BIN...
Here
I would suggest getting an amp with a RBC (remote bass control), as it really helps you dial in the subs to the music you are listening to. It sounds like you are more interested in sound quality as opposed to pissin off the car next to you....lol. Again, I rocked ebay to get my amp. I got a Directed factory refurb with a manufacturers warranty for like $80. You can probably get a less powerful amp for a little less. Ultimately, Ebay is your answer. I have built my system almost completely off of ebay, and as long as you do your homework, you will be very happy with what you come away with.

now the last time i had subs they were in a ford thunderTird.... i had an aftermarket deck so wiring em in was a snap... how hard is it to do with the stock deck...
It depends on what current sound system you have. If you have the stock amplified system, I think you can splice into the pre-ampleads and send an unamplified "line-level" signal to your subwoofer amp. If not, they make step-downs to reduce the amplified signal (that would normally lead to your speakers)to a line-level signal. I, personally, have never been a fan of this method though.
I have been in car audio for a very long time. Trust me when I say this. You will never find a sub better than JL period! Do 2 JL 10's in a ported box. Sub amps are not as important as getting the box right. I would use the JL 500w sub amp and build the box to the recomended size. If you do this, you will be very happy. DO NOT THINK BIGGER IS BETTER. Stay with 10's and nothing bigger. 4 JL 8's would sound the best in your truck using the same 500w JL amp. The 8's only use a .8 cubic foot ported box each. The 10's use 1.25 ported. I have only 2 JL 8w7's with a Matts 1500w digital amp. THIS IS WAY MORE THAN YOU WILL WANT. What kind of music do you listen to. This will help in driver selection. I will help with a system design if you like. I WILL NEED TO KNOW YOUR PRICE LIMIT!!!!!!
Story....you are my kind of guy! He would DIE if he had 4 w7's in his truck (even if they are only 8s). I am working with the w6's and they are STRONG, and the w7's are just retarded. They don't fit in the Fox Box though, as they are too deep. As he said before, he listens to a lot of country and rock, so 10" is as big a driver as I would go. Like I said before, it really does well with the punch of a kick drum, as I am sure those 8"s of yours do, Story.

I have two diamond m6 10's in my truck with a concept hp-1500mono block amp and they are way more than what i origanally wanted. I have gotten used to them now. I have JL w7's in my mustangand i think that the diamonds sound alot better than my JL's do (might be do to the open space in a hatchback). In all reality it is all a matter of preference though go with what you want not what other people tell you. I have had people tell me what sounded good then i bought it and hated it.
