Default Tranny Question

I have an 06 Ram 4.7 4x4 quad cab. It has 12k miles on it. This is my first Dodge and am wondering if the tranny is normal or if there might be a problem. Since I have never had a Dodge before, not sure what to expect. It seems that it wants to drop into high gear or OD quicker than I would like. Another way to explain it is my foot needs to be further into the pedal to maintain a lower gear than I am used to. Is this normal? Can anything be done to change this? Thanks for the help guys...

Tough call without experiencing it, but I'd say it is operating normally. You want to firm up & change your shift points then a tuner is probably the best ticket for you...

Theres a thread titled "How Many Payments Do You Have LEft" and it has 20 plus replies but my tranny post asking folks how their 4.7 auto responds in regards to easily going into OD can only get one?

What would you rather, alot of posts from people that have no idea of what they are talking about, or a few honest replies???Everyone has the correct answer for "HowMany Payments Do YouHave Left". As for the question I have noticed that with my slush box, it is much harder to keep it out of overdrive or into a lower gear than other vehicles I have driven. It seems that to keep itinto a lower gear you either have to be acclerating or have your foot into it prettyheavy and a decent load.Although it does seem to come out of O/D pretty easy (but I have 3.55 gears which doesn't help).

Get you some 4.56's that'll keep it up in the power bandwidth longer.
Don't fear the gear, Robbie, don't fear the gear...

Yeah hopefully during the late summer or early fall next year I will get 4.56s and an Auburn LSD. For what ever reason up hear to get them installed is crazy expensive 2300$$ PLUS the cost ofthe auburn. My dad with help has installed gears before, so I am really contemplating installing them myself (with his help, rented tools, and a good manual). Even if I screw them up and have to re-do them its still cheaper than paying the local shop to do it.

Damn dude, expensive ain't the word. I got 4.56s front & rear, master install kit AND the Auburn LSD for a little over $1400 installed. Now granted, they didn't charge me labor on the LSD install because I bought it from them and it took almost no extra time to install it once they were in there anyway. But still, how do they justify the extra $900. Assuming your gonna pay about $200 for each set of gears, $125 for the master kit and $325 for LSD no matter where you live, your telling me them bastards want upwards of $1500 for what amounts to about half a days labor!!!!!! Surely you can find a shop that will work for less than $300+ bucks an hour!!!
Dude, that's F**K'n insane!!!

2nd dodge i've owned and they both did it. It has to do with the gears they put on them. you would think they would make the 4.56 gears standard because the 3.55 are not doing the job.

Yeah it would be 1400$ if I brought my own stuff in and they would not warranty anything... And they wanted THREE DAYS to do it!! Its crazy because this is a very reputable shop that does ALOT of work around here. Comparing what everyone else is paying on here I cannot believe they stay in business. BTW Lickskillet didnt mean to steal the thread.
