dodge laramie edition
hey there guys new to this whole site just checkin things out but got a quik question here.. with my truck i am permanetly stuck in awd.. is that only with my edition of the truck i wanna be able to do some break stands from a stop but am not able to thanks get back to me.
I do not think they made a AWDall the timeRam. You will either have a electronic switch on the dash (most likely with a Laramie)or a manual shifter on the floor.

Yea, most Laramies have the button and an AWD mode. I wanted the Laramie for the leather seats, but looked at about half a dozen at three dealerships before I found my Laramie with a good old floor shifter...
I have a 2005 5.7 hemi 4x4 laramie and that has the electric switch on the dash, the only options i have are AWD, 4WD hi and 4WD lo! So think your stuck with permanant 4wd and no break stands. Unless you take the front to rear prop shaft out, not sure what that would do to your truck though.
Wow I had no idea they offered an AWD in the trucks. My moms hemi durango is AWD and has the same switch setup 4lock and 4lo. Thats weird.

I had this discussion a few weeks ago. It seems that for 1 or 2 years, there were true fulltime AWD trucks with optional 4hi and 4lo positions when needed.
For model years after that, it boils down to "shift on the fly" transfer case vs. "shift on demand" transfer case. The latter is how Dodge refers to their setup that switches into 4hi when slip is detected.
