Default Ebay special anyone??

soo somebody back me up one this.......i have an 03 4.7 and if you go on ebay u will find a lot of cold air intakes. the thing about these intakes is that they stretch down into the passenger side wheelwell. it is able to suck thetrue cold air from outside. thinking about this since heat rises and itiscontained in the engine bay wouldntyou think a k&n intake orothers like it wouldnot work as well? i was just board messing around on ebay and started thinking.

That was my thinking too. So I got some pipe and made one. Seems to work very well, gave my 4.7 a bit more pep. I like it and saved well over $100, for what feels to be the same gain.

Once you're moving there is no more heat to be contained under the hood. I have an ebay intake and love it. At $65 or so you can't lose.

As much as I love ebay, I figure that with as much as I spent on my truck that I can scrounge up the couple extra $100s and buy a real intake. Plus with mine, and I am sure with many others, it actaully draws the air from behind the headlight in front of the radiator. It's just for peace of mind for me, to know that R&D was actually done on the product.

i totally agree with you on that......but really arnt they all jsut pipeing nad a cone filter.......sum filters better than others yes. and on the more expensive ones they claim to air to be less turbulant, but more turbulant air better air fuel mixture and from a start wouldnt the ebay special suck colder air....i think volant does this uses an aire box but a tube comes down into the wheelwell am i right??????

Not sure about the Volant, and yes they are essentially piping and a filter. Although most of the name brand intakes have a box it goes to that seals it off from the rest of the engine compartment. Which is supposed to keep it separate from the warm engine air, the ebay specials seem to mostly be just a tube and filter. Overall, its up to the person and what they are comfortable with.

I got a great deal two days ago on ebay for a AFE cold air intake stage 2 for only $104 when it goes for $200-$275..the seller said it was only on his truck for 2 weeks and he took it off..still has the box, directions, etc

The piping is freakin huge! And Its not metal cus I heard the metal tubes cause road noise
