yea virginia aint too bad i live in PA and i dont really do anything out of the ordinary... the 50-50 is the way antifreeze should always be!
I agree on the anti-freeze part, but a person can't go with your advise. Your 50-50 when it comes to EVERYTHING, you cross dressing, bi-sexual little toad... no offense

50/50 antifreeze. NEVER 100% -- water absorbes heat better than antifreeze. Lighter weight oil (5w-30) in cooler areas. The water in the antifreeze DOES NOT freeze. The cautions about the battery are well-founded. If yours is older than a couple of years, it probably won't make it through two of those winters (this winter you may be OK, though). Good luck in school! Be careful in the snow, us Florida boys ain't used to it. I'd probably freeze to death before spring!

By the way jerritt, the only time your block will crack is when you throw cold water on a HOT block. If it's frozen when you start, it melts.
It'll crack if the coolant freezes for long enough to expand throughout the block, AND if the freeze plugs don't do their job. Cold water on a hot engine isn't all that bad. We all drive through puddles and worse with hot engines.
