Default Manual 4x4 mode on 05 Dodge ram???

As some of you know I just got my first truck on christmas and a little confused on the 4wd. Its not a button FWD system like I always see ..Its a Manual One. I figured Out how to shift in into 4 wheel drive but I dont know how to shift 4 lo and 4 hi? BTW what does 4 lo and 4 hi mean comapred to the normal 4wd >???

I went playin around in the snow today and used the 4wd ( the light comes on saying 4wd ) then goes off when I shift back does this sound right?

sounds right...4 hi is meant to be used at higher speeds and 4 low is meant for really slow speeds(really slow)....there are only 2 4x4 modes so im guessing you were in 4hi when you were messin around in the snow and it just said 4x4 on the dash...

4x4 lo should only be used at speed below 35 mph, esle it gets very hard on your drive train. To get 4x4 lo make sure you're in nuteral and pull the transefer case shifter back twards you more, you also have to be in N to get back out of 4lo. 4x4 on the dash is hi, when it goes into 4lo, a "low" comes on behind 4x4. Have fun in the snow!
