yeah, I'm not worried about labor as my 2 buddies will be doing it for me. Hmm.. that level kit and body lift with 35s sounds nice. Simple too I'm guessing. Thanks guys
yea... strictly for looks... not gonna be cheap... plus 37's could hurt these front ends..
what do you mean 37's hurts the front end
TD's a nimrod but he's right on this one. I've been riding 4x4's hard off-road, hunting, fishing, etc. for over 20 years and the one thing I have seen is that as builders starting using IFS front ends in 1/2 ton trucks for a more car like ride on pavement, they don't hold up well off-road. Stuff breaks quite a bit easier than on older (2nd gen) 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons that utilize solid axles.
This becomes a HUGE issue when tire sizes get any bigger than about 35". I've helped a lot of guys get their rigs out of the woods when I lived in GA. and "played" every weekend and the ratio of broken front end components on lifted IFS trucks with 37's and up is many, many times higher than solid axle trucks or IFS trucks with 33" & 35" tires.
I've gotone friend with a lifted Chevy who broke down onvacation with his 38" tires and the whole passenger side of the front end went just from the wear of sustained highway speeds and turns at high speed. The consensus where he had it repaired was that the front end just couldn't handle the weight and extra strain put onit over a few thousand miles...
I dont do alot off 4 wheeling most of the time i play in 2wd and onlu use 4wd when i get stuck and then go back to 2wd. i guess that is why i havent had any problems
