I was hoping for that when they swapped mine out, but apparently they keep older model blocks somewhere for this kind of thing. I wonder what it would cost to do a swap to a new 4.7?

4.7L is an awesome engine. I bought a 2000 Dakota with a 4.7L and drove it for about 4-5 thousand miles with no head gasket. One of the head gasketshad beenleft off at the factory I never lost a drop off coolant until a few months after i bought it, I was giving it hell going up the mountain and it blew coolant everywhere and started overheating. We towed it back to our shop, put a new head and gasket on it and it's has been fine ever since. That is some great machine work.
Collapsed lifters is the root cause. The Dealer is a small town Chrysler/Ford Dealer. They don't stock many vehicles. they have 1 ram and it's a new 06 mega lol. The service department is awesome. They usually get it right and always give me a loaner. I didn't buy this (Used) ram there but when I buy a new one it will come from there.
We bought our Ram as a lease vehicle back in Aug 05 with 21,000 on it. It was a great deal and I asked about the 7/70 warrenty plan but the dealer said because of it being a lease there was no warrenty for it. But if I could get a warrenty now at 50,000+ miles I may be interested. Is there a program out there, I really do not want to go back to the dealer I got it from.
