with any luck they will drop in the newer 4.7 rated at 302 hrspwr instead of the original factory one
I was hoping for that when they swapped mine out, but apparently they keep older model blocks somewhere for this kind of thing. I wonder what it would cost to do a swap to a new 4.7?
The change is in the heads and lighter piston/rod assembly. They squeezed more power by higher compression ratio and 2 plugs per cylinder.

How many quotes can you quote?

Thanks for the link. Corrected a misconception I had about SOHC and DOHC. It's apparent there'd be some fairly signifcant electrical/computer changes involved as well so it'd be more than just swapping the top half of the engine. And it'd probably be the electronics that cost the most.

I may be in trouble then, I have an 04 4.7 Ram with 84,000 miles and my engine has been knocking for a while now. Think I could get the same warranty replacement?

I'd get it checked out for sure. It only took a week for my engine to go after I noticed the loud tick/knock.

I got the warranty because it was an 80,000 mile warranty and I have less than that. It was a certified used
