Default 2008 Ram

Hello all. Just purchased a new 2008 Ram 1500 today, Hemi, 2 wheel drive. Just got home with it and as I was backing up I ran off the end of my driveway into the yard. The yard is about 2 inches lower than the driveway and has a slight slope to it. As I put the truck back in drive and gave it gas there was a grinding sound that I swear sounded as though it was coming for the master clyinder or somewhere on the left side that lasted for about 5 seconds or so. After I was back on the drive no more sound. I had drove the truck all day and did not hear this problem. So I took the truck out on the streets stopping at bottom of hills and going up with no problem. Stopped over a couple of speed bumps-no problem. Got back home and let the rear wheels hang off the drive onto the yard, put it in gear - grinding sound again. The truck has traction control so I'm wondering if running off into the grass at an angle is causing this somehow. Just wondering if anyone else has hear of this. Thanks.

Hmmm that sounds wierd... "grinding" sounds are hard to say without hearing it bc there is a lot of different "grinding" sounds... you say its when your putting it in gear.. front left.... i dont know of any sounds like that from a master cylinder though....

It's traction control kicking in. Don't worry... it's okay. Your baby is fine )

Hey guys. Thanks for the replys. Dont know if it is the traction control or not. It sounds really harsh for something like that. Today I did get a chance to look at the manual and the truck has the "HAS" feature which the manual said could make a clicking sound when engaged, but still this is more like a grinding sound very much like the sound when you slam on the brakes on an ABS system. That clunking, grinding type sound. Now with all of this being said today I could not get the truck to make the sound so go figure. Still I am going to check with the dealer Saturday just to be sure.
Again thanks for the replies. (I will try to get pictures up in the next few days).

Sorry. Should have been "HSA" - meaning "Hill Start Assist".

Feelin pretty ignorant here.... What's Hill Start Assist? Something for manual trans so you don't roll back on a hill?

Thanks,

Andy
