Superchips tuners keep the entire vehicle safety and emissions systems intact, but modify the fuel, spark and transmission settings to deliver dramatic power, torque and drivability improvements. With the advent of OBD-II vehicle control module in the early 1990's, most domestic vehicle manufacturers installed under-dash ports ("ALDL ports") which allowed dealers and service techs to "re-flash" the vehicle's control module to change engine settings without replacing an EPROM.

My friend bought one from supachips. He had it on his 2006 silverado which was giving him 17 to 18 mpg V8. He setup his supa for the economy setting and factoring his new 3.93 gear ratio on a chevy to fix the speedo error. He is now getting 15mpg with the economy setting. So I dont know how good they can be. Needless to say he is trading his truck for a I4 2008 Tacoma.

eltupac: Never heard of anybody getting worse gas mileage AFTER installing a Superchips, that's almost impossible to do, especially considering how it advances the timing. I know because of the firmness of the tranny shifts, I'm on it a lot more than before and I still got the same to a slightly better mpg after. Me thinks his calculations were WAY off due to the calibration being off with the gear change and now he's getting a real reading.
