got a killer deal on some subs and amp feedback wanted**finally installed and updated pics***
Yea, if you end up making a box, good luck. It WILL be a PITA.... Fox Acoustics makes a great box. It is well made and sounds great. It has a good amount of airspace for a prefab box, and will install without you having to pull the carpet out from under it (unlike the carpeted boxes, which often require this) This has been a very popular box on DF & DT.
The subs also come with some 5/8" seat spacers to give a little more clearance for sub excursion. Here is a pic of my setup without the back seat.

I have to say I think that should sound loud as f*&@!Like everyone is saying, though, the only problem I can see would be the lack of air. You must like it loud, though, cause is that truck those will be boomin'. Call me weak, but I just downsized from an Eclipse 15" running 1000Watts to a 10" W3 runningwith a 500Watt Slash Series.Fiberglass box under the back seat seemed like the way to go. I'll tell you how it is when it's installed in a couple days. Should be clean though.
i checked fox acoustics but theyre very expensive man. also, that style box that they sell is made for 10" woofers. i know the 12" one they sell is a different one and i believe its sealed. i also love how you mounted those amps, gives thieves a much harder time and making them think twice before they steal it.
as for the loudness, funny thing is when i bought the truck i swore i would never get any woofers. i was over and done with them. thing is that lately ive been listening to alot of house music and old hip hop. my friend has some old 15 inch woofers in his s10 and it sounds real hard. he never even turns it up he always keeps it at -6 on the radio and it sounds amazing.
ive noticed in the past that if i ever go small, i end up wanting to upgrade. id rather just get something nice and ill buy a little bass controller.
one more question, i live in a good neighborhood next to a not so good neighborhood and everyone thinks that the good neighborhood is rich, ive had my mustang broken into twice since i moved here a few years ago. any ideas on how to bolt down the system to the floor? i was thinking from the bottom of the box to the floor, that way you would have to remove the speakers to do so. or bolt it down via the back of the box to the floor. is there any special way to do this, or special tools?
i love the feedback so far thanks alot guys, keep em coming.

Yea, I think that the dual 12" enclosure is sealed.... Still, you will enjoy it more than an MDF box, especially the prefabs made for our truck. The dual 12" box is only $150 shipped.. which is only $30 more than the box you were originally talking about, and way cheaper than the MTX box.
As far as the amps go, I was skeptical at first that the location would work. I did not think that there would be enough air flow, but when I removed thes seats, there were the two vents (black squares, one is on the right-middle of the pic above my crossovers) I am not sure what these are for (i assume cabin pressure, but I have not had anyone confirm that), but the air temp does not get too high. I actually had an electronic thermo back there to monitor, and even when pushing the system, it was still cool back there.
Yea, the location will definitely be a theft deterrent. It will be very difficult for them to know I even have a system in my truck. Much less remove it.

alright after a little research i found that the foxacoustics has them for 175, not 150 (even on ebay)...i might consider getting this box since i hear so many good things about them although itll set me back another 55 dollars in the difference but i think itll be worth the investment.
im still looking to see if anyone has bolted their box down to the seat or the floor. i would love to hear ideas from anyone and see how they did it. also, on their site, theres the following statement:
what are the fold out platforms? i guess i dont have them on mine. also the spacer... is it hard to install that seat spacer? or should i just have the shop do it for me?

I always drilled a hole through the box and the floor and used no less than a 3/8" bolt with a large washer on both sides to keep it from pulling through if you get hit. Also, DO NOT play your system within a 1/2 mile of your house. If you keep everything hidden and don't let people know you have a system, it will not get stole. Just my 2 cents.
thanks for the security input story. i know about the 1/2 mile thing. ive never had a stereo stolen only radios. not fun at all
when you cant hear your tunes on the way to work/school. ill prolly end up installing all this crap this weekend. thinking about the fox acoustics box. i MIGHT be inspired to do the whole install myself and save a few bucks (installation is only gonna cost me about 50 bux, maybe a little more if i ask to bolt the box down and install the rear seat spacer that comes with the fox box

What OHM are the subs? If they are 2 OHM then the subs will be getting 600 watts each, if the subs are 4 OHM they will be receiving less... The subs are rated at 750 watts RMS.
The subs require a minimum of 1 cubic foot of airspace... Try to stay above that number when picking a box.
I have two of these subs in my regular cab truck (I know you're looking for opinions from people who own quad cabs, but oh well! LOL) and they are loud, and sound amazing!! I have had countless compliments...
My setup includes: Pioneer Head Unit, (2) CVX 12's 4 OHM, powered by (2) Kicker 750.1 (Each sub has it's own amp), done all Kicker wiring (0 gauge power and ground, 12 gauge speaker wire)...

Any questions let me know...

well i picked up the woofers and the amp. its gonna be way too much for the truck. definetly not enough airspace and the box i was gonna buy (foxacoustics box) is the largest one i could find, here were the issues
1. not enough airspace (about 1.8something feet when i needed 2)
2. the magnet on the speakers were just a little too large. itll be too much of a tight fit and i dont think itll sound that good.
the other route i was gonna do is get a custom made box but even then the people who will build it all tell me it will not sound as good as it can. i had a few people recommend me 10 inch woofers or some less powerful 12 inch woofers.
i paid 250 for the speakers, box and a 1200 watt kicker monoblock amp. i kinda got a reality check and found someone to buy the speakers alone from me for 200. i will be making the transaction tomorrow, so basically i got a great amp for 50 bux. not bad at all if u ask me.
i think i might go with 10 inch woofers... i kinda dont want to but i think itll sound best. if i find some CVRs at a good deal ill definetly go with them. any suggestions on speakers?
the amp is a kx1200.1 monoblock amp. whatever i get i will have bridged.
