So i had my auburn in my truck and was driving it last night and to my suprise the rearend started howling i knew that the bearing preload and tooth pattern were right i mean i am a mechanic have done numerous 9.25. So i opened up the pumpkin today and found chunks of one of the auburns side gears just laying in the bottom. So now i am waiting on auburn to send me a new one and i only had it in my truck for two weeks!!! I have hadan auburn in my race car for a few years and never had any problems!!! Now auburn's aren't really a disaster just their customer support i Just needed a thread title to get your attetion!!!!


The real reason for this post is i am looking for a stock LSD that will fit my 02 ram 1500. Auburn told me it could be up to90 days before i get the new one. So if anyone has one that has not broken the infamous CLIPS let me know.

 

Wow, I'm shocked! I have had three Auburns in different trucks with no issues, ever. In my '98 I had it almost from day one and traded it with 68k with never an issue. Also had one in my '89 truck that had over 100k and still worked like it did on day one.
I actually was gonna try the TruTrac in my '04, but read a couple of horror stories like the one you describe, so I figured to stay with the tried and true.

i actually talked to them again and they are gonna ship one out tomorrow and i just have to return mine within 7 days or they are gonna send me a bill for the new one. I thought i was going to get screwed but they are actually being cool about it.
