Default Exhaust Information Needed- Thanks

OK, so I am a newbie.....I will admit it! I have done some reading on this subject but would like things simplified. So please help me out here.

I have a 2008 Ram QC with 5.7 Hemi. I am also getting the Vararam Hemi Under Glass installed and would like a good exhaust system to go with it. My criteria:

1. I do NOT want some loud, and to some obnoxious, sounding exhaust. The less noise the better for my situation.

2. What horsepower/torque gains can I expect with each of your suggested systems.

3. Ease of installation. I don't really want to move or remove the spare tire. Something available that will work around it would be best.

So,can you help me with suggestions and information? What should I look at and where should I buy it? And, what HP and torque gains should I expect with the exhaust and Vararam vs. the stock Hemi I have now.

As a newbie, I do appreciate all of your help.

if you're just looking to replace your stock muffler try a Flowmaster 50 or 70 series big block muffler. all the performance gains with milder tone

Go with the Borla exhaust for the 06 and up Hemi's with MDS. I love mine, got tired of the flowmaster drone...and removed mine.

I installed the system myself ........it was easy to install. Do a search and buy it from E Bay...you'll save about $250.00 on it.

I am assuming that you had to weld it in? I don't have a welder.

Scratch that......I went to their website. I see that they have a bolt-on system. But I still think that I would rather have it welded in to prevent leaks.

The factory doesn't weld them......and no leaks. I actually like the idea of being able to remove it...if you have to work on something and it is in the way....just unbolt it.

Plus this system has better clamps that the factory.

Ok, I think I have narrowed it down to a Magnaflow or the Gibson Dual Sport. Which would give me closer to "factory" sound levels, just don't want anything real loud? Any difference in performance increases between the two of them? What is the difference between stanless steel and aluminized steel? And, best places to buy them where they might be in stock now at a reasonable price? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn and then make good decisions!

I went with magnaflow sounds great. In the cab, unless you really get on it, you can not hardly hear it. Go with stainless steel it will not rust! I got my setup at a muffler shop here in town: magnaflow exhaust duel exit out the rear, and the spare tire did not have to come off, and tips out the door for $280.

I've been welding since I was 11 and always weld my own on, including my current setup. Never believed a bolt on was worth a ****. But I helped a friend put a flowmaster full bolt on kit on his '05 1500 maybe a year or so ago, and I couldn't detect a single leak. I'm thinking about trying next time I have a new truck with a bolt on to start with. It sure does make it easy to change out a muffler or chrome tip without having to cut it out...
