Trade in Dilemma,
Thanks, I checked into that truxedo and I found 2 dealers relatively close to me. I'll call them Mon. and get a estimate hopefully. I'm wishing there was some way to get it before x-mas. Anyhow, I sat down w/ the wife last night, showed her the #'s and we decided we'd rather have that extra $12000 over the next 5 years instead of putting it in another vehicle. Thanks for all the advice, we do not have kids and won't for a little while hopefully. That will change our needs so next time we will have to get more room in a vehicle. I'm also looking at those hard plastic retractable bed covers, some even have a remote control. I'm just not sure of the black plastic look on a shiny black pickup. As for my friends, they don't respect their own vehicles. I have not given them a chance to disrespect mine, and hopefully won't ever. They all have pickups that have been old work trucks for years. BUT!, I live in a college town where I see plenty of brand new pickups that "daddy" pays for and they tear the **** out of them. Makes me sick to see a $50k pickup trashed out by a 20yr. old who has never worked a day in his life. I guess it goes along w/ having to pay for your own vehicles and everything growing up. When the $$$ is coming out of your own pocket it makes a world of difference I guess. Ohhh well, a little of the subject. But thanks guys, I appreciate all of your help.
Your profile suggests Texas is your home, so snow and ice should not be a problem with the retractable covers; in WI, I did not think it was a good idea. From the research I did, the retractalbe also requires some additional space on the front of the bed to store the rolled up unit. Make sure the mechanism works well in dusty conditions and is easy to clean. The last thing you need is to want to get to your full bed and the mechanism is dirty or corroded and won't budge.
