Trying to install a small light in the area of the cup holders. There appears to be a space for a light, which means there should be a switched power wire in the area w/ nothing attached, but I cant seem to find it. But then again, I cant get that section of dash apart too far. If the wire doesnt exist, I would just tie it into the cig. lighter power; but I cant seem to get to that either.
Any help w/ getting the dash apart to access the cig. lighter wires or see if a wire already exists for what Im trying to do? Ive searched and only found older dashes.

 

Someone can jump in here with more detailed information, but from what I've read, there are two screws in the bottom of the bezel. Take those out and pull straight out toward the back window. My '03 had a little harness just for the purpose of cup holder/ashtray lamps. There is a very feeble unit you can get from the dealer, but I just spliced in two white LEDs and mounted them above the cupholder.

 

Thats what I want to do, just splice into them, but still cant get to them. Ive remove more freaken screws & still cant get to it. I have the actual cup holder fold out portion out, but can get the piece above it out.

 

Are you trying to get out the trim piece thats around the radio....?

 

I just spliced into the lights for the HVAC controls with some LEDS and they dim with lights...

on my 08 reg cab, when you pull the middle dash, the cig lighters come off with it

Im trying to get the piece off that would be around the cig. lighter. Im assuming its the same piece for the HVAC. If Im missing a few screws (like she said I am) I would be amazed; I had a pile of them sitting there & still couldnt pull that piece (of the dash) off.
