Default What's happening to Dodge?

I bought my truck in Lowell MA in August of '07 and found out about 2 weeks ago that they abruptly closed their doors. I went to the next closest Dodge dealership (Burlington MA) for my oil change / tire rotation / front end alignment and found out they were closing tomorrow. I went to Medford MA to find out they no longer sell Dodge, and ended up having to go one state up to NH. What the hell is happening?

When I was talking to the guy at the service department he asked me what I paid for my truck (sticker was 39,600) and when I told him 28,000 and they put in a spray on bed liner he almost **** his pants and said that may be why Lowell closed, but I'm sure they didn't give EVERYONE invoice minus rebates so why is Diamer Chrystler closing down all the Dodge dealerships?. This seems to be one of the last remaining Dodge dealerships, and they definitely know it and charge accordingly, some competition wouldn't hurt. Any idea why all of these dealerships are closing?

Hmm, that is interesting. Man, I don't go to Worcester all that often, but I give you guys credit for having the dirtiest / weirdest / coolest? bar I've seen in a while. Ralph's Diner is definitely an interesting place.

hey i found out why lowell closed. ( my siste rin law worked there up until a month ago) chrysler did an evaluation of the area and decidedthere was too many dealerships in the area so they decided to close a few, the reason they were chosen to be closed because they werent meting their quota. they were supposed to be selling 150 vehicles a month and were barely doing half thats why they were giving such good deals. my father in law got a used caddy there and the dealership lost about $6000, gave him way too much for his trade and alot of the car even for used. im not going to complain i got a crazy deal on my ram too lol. so thank you LCJD for having no business sense and giving us great deals on our trucks lol.
as for another dodge dealership there is one in salisbury,ma riught down the street from coastal customs.

I've been wondering the same myself! Norwood Dodge closed, S. Attleboro Dodge closed...wtf! I've taken my truck to Melrose Dodge, they seem to do good waranty work! Kinda a run down looking place, but, oh-well...
Since i'm in Attleboro now, I go to Lincoln Dodge and they are superb!! Kinda small, but worth it.. And ten mins away.

As you guys may or may not remember from a few months ago.........Chrysler is owned by a private Corporation now. Cerberus Capital Management LP is the new owner with 80.1% of the company. So they are closing plants and dealerships left and right to become profitable again.

Jim Press,
the guy Cerberus hired away from Toyota
has publicly said he wants to close
about half the Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealerships.

within 10 miles of me we had 2 ford and one chrysler dealer close. in my area most dealers are family owned. seems like in at least 2 cases they were offerd big money for their land. i used to work at the local chrysler dealer back in the late 80s. never had big rebates back then. i think these dealers are making less and less money every year. and a least in my area the owners are haning it up after 30 or 40 years.
