yeah thats why she filed I guess and shes not a spendaholic. By anymeans. It occured over 7 years of college. Plus there is no 6 figure salary. She filed cause her student loans where gonna be about 3 grand a month.I didnt even know she did it but you still have to support her even if you disagree. When I went with her to the filing thing there everyone but her had filed atleast 3 times before. It does get a little dumb with people like that. I trust her enough now to never do it again. As we agreed both of us would never have credit cards again.

Yea, I used to hear that you were F**K'd for seven years if you went bankrupt too. It's hogwash! One of my best friends and his spendaholic wife got REAL bad in debt. Were renting, living in a doublewide with four kids...

I hope it doesn't feel like you're getting picked on HellBilly1, as I'm sure that's no ones intention. I think you just touched a sore spot.
First, your wife filed bankruptcy without telling you? Yikes, that seems like it'd be one of those things you may want to consult with your spouse first. I'd be more than a little upset if the first I heard of it was the day before the hearing.
Second, I'm fairly sure Texas_rebel is right. Student loans are almost always non-dischargeable. Unless you can prove that paying them would make it impossible for you to maintain a minimal standard of living, and that it's not likely to improve over time. Since you wife makes "damn good money" I'd guess that'd be difficult to do. But, I'm not a lawyer so who knows.

I guess when I say damn good its damn good for IOWA starting out salary right after school. Which is prolly pretty ****ty by means of other states.. I dont really care if people rag or whatever its fine with me. I guess I shouldnt have vented everything out and just go the question I wanted to know. But people can pick or whatever its fine. I dont mind I have dealt with alot more than this about less and important issues. People are entitled to say whatever they want I would do the same and have said the same to my wife. Yeah her school loans arent going away.... Like I said so when you have to pay almost 3k a month on loans making 60k a year married to lowly farmer I guess you do what you have to get by. I respect her decision although I wish she would have been more straight forward about it I can understand on why she wouldnt want anyone to know as its pretty ****ty thing to do and she knows that it was her only choice.
i don't look down on anyone for that, i have struggled before and am now as i am back in college and my wife is a first year teacher, which where she is new teacher=broke. i feed my kids and pay my bills and know that in about a year and a half i will be out of school and making a decent living. my wife thankfully already has a few options making about ten grand more than she is now. so while it is tough now i look to the future and know it will be ok. point is, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. i wouldn't let people get me down for that. drive on hellbilly and good luck in your endeavors.

the reason we filed has nothing to do with a payment of a truck... My wife makes damn good money but through 7 years of college. and no fulltime job and a 200000 dollar school loan to pay off. she had quite a bit credit carddebt. and here they do touch you right away because they know you cant file again for 7 years which we wont have to ever again. first year of my wifes job and she makin more money than most people who have worked at jobs for some time. just the fact that the credit cards screwed her in college.

Sounds like you two are really responsible. Thanks for assisting inthe downfall of the economy.

I hate that crap. People act like filing is victimless and only big corps have to pay when people don't pay their debts. BS, it trickles down to all of us. I will be paying more for my stuff in the future because some chick with a 6 figure salary (about double mine) couln't pay for all the crap she charged in college. It's BS.

just remember he's here for truck help, not help with financial responsability, or irresponsibility. or marriage counceling for that matter... Everyone here feels it's bs, everyone has told him that.
He knows it, and he has to live with it. quit beating a dead horse...just help the guy.
