Haha... that's why you shouldn't jump a full size truck, especially a stock full size truck. My escapades in the sand were more like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeADwoQgh48

I could take you to each of those places in that video (the dunes aren't that big... across the whole area in 20 minutes maybe?)

Although I won't lie, I did once rip off my front fog light valance and after two years my frame was pretty tweaked, though not like that GMC. It was more twisted sideways... front and rear window seals didn't hold water out anymore... replaced the transfer case once due to sand getting in and much more. My truck wasn't as tricked out as the one in the video either, but itwas very capable and I knew what I could jump and what I couldn't.

The onetime Ihit the really big jump was when the fog light valancecame off and it looked something like the GMC jump, but much faster and higher. I'd been hitting this jump all day long, going about 40 - 45. Then I took thisgirl out with me thatI sort of wanted to impress, so I hit it at 55.... yeah... a little too fast. In the end she crawled out of the truck, curled up into a ball on the sand andstarted crying while I was too busy ecstatically yelling and celebrating buddies about how far I'd just flown... thatgirl didn't work out....

Whenever I used to go out into the sand I always had plywood, 2x6's, 2 tow straps, a shovel, gas tank, andsome basic tools. Oh, I usually also brought an old snowboard and a wakeboard rope. Out of desperation forsnow (I didn't have a boat at the time), I'd have my buddiespullme around the sand whileI "sandboarded" on anold snowboard using a wakeboard tow rope.... it wasn't the best, and very tiring, butI got my fix and a LOT ofpeople staring.

If you wanted a prerunner I'm not sure that the Ram was the best slate to start with.
Yeah i know. I got a great deal on the Dodge though and wanted a Dodge so I m not super dissapointed in my decision.

As long as you're happy with your decision. I love my Dodge. And it can be done... just will be a little harder.

I am fortunate to have a friend whos dad owns a shop that builds $80K+ sand rails so he said if i need any custom work done when I decide to do this he will help me out. I don't want to do a full custom job though as this truck is my DD and I want to leave the R&D up to someone else.

Ok you guys are hurting my feelings. I love my 2WD. I'm lifted and running BFG Mud terrains. Ive ran through some nasty mud. you can do it in a 2WD just know your vehicle, know your throttle and know the limits of your vehicle. Ohh and having a buddy with a better built 4x4 than your 4x2 is a great ideal too.
