You'regoing to buy a new truck just for lower gears? You can always just do a gear swap and keep your current truck. Anyway, the difference wouldn't even be worth the money or timeunless you gowith 4.10's or lower.

The lower the gear (higher numerical value) the quicker your acceleration will be....but your top speed will also be lower due to gearing. It's also a good idea to get a tune after the installto adjust your shift points but it's not necessary.

How much are we talking about for lower gears? So better acceleration and towing.... how much top speed would one give up? And are we also talking about worse highway mpg?

you'll lose 1-2 mpg hiway, gain 1-2 in town.

Your lookin and 400 for gears and then labor.

It would not be a night and day difference but you would notice a difference.

Well... I sit in stop and go traffic almost all 22 miles to work.. and then I drive the truck around town to Home Depot, etc., and when we take the boat to the lake, so I could probably live with that. Any long trips we take we now take in the Hummer.

But, that's going to void my warranty? Or at least some part of it....

Are you still thinking about getting the factory 3.92's? If you do and the dealer installs them it shouldn't void your warranty on the rear-end.

If you go with aftermarket lower gears it will most likely void the warranty on the rear including the factory limited slip if you have it. Maybe the u-joints and driveshaft also... I'd triple check with the dealers in your area before doing anything.
