Default Power Steering Hiccup

I was pulling my truck into my spot last night (I always back in) and as I put it into reverse, the power steering stopped working - or the steering wheel locked up. I turned the truck off and back on and it was fine. I drove it this morning and no issues. Should I be concerned? It hasn't shown a single sign of issues until that moment last night.

I have not had any power steering problems with my truck yet. Could it possibly be anything with the belt slipping, you would think that once a pump is bad it's bad. May alos want to check the pluid.

there is a problem with the oem replacement pump...these pump are just not big neough to turn the big *** front end on our trucks...at least thats what i think.... it only takes about 20 mins to chage the pump......the plunger gets damages when you turn the truck all the way to the stops...

I get this problem with mine on occasion when it gets really cold. It's been that way since day one. It's happened in other vehicles I've driven/owned as well but I think in our case it mainly has to do with the poor quality of Dodge's IFS system as a whole.

If I start my truck and go as soon as it starts my pump sticks just a little bit so I start and wait about 10 seconds before I go but nothing like you are talking about.

i start my truck for 5 mins before i go anywhere period!!!!! you need to let your engine and tranny warm up...trust me ive owned hot rods my whole like this engine for the most part (hemi) is a high performance engine.....let your truck warm up bhetter viscosity with you fluids

oh yeah az hemi chick you need to know this....dont know if you have an automatic tranny or not...if you do....make sure you are completely stopped before you go from reverse to drive and vice versa....the reason i say this is because I have owned cars my whole life and I know how fast you can switch gears...so just a heads up dodge trcuk like to be stopped before switching back and fourth from d to r~later~Mike

Some trucks you can get away with a quick reverse but I have found out that its not good on my Ram. Trans jerks too much. I did it once and no more!

Yeah, I let my truck warm up before I go anywhere...not that it's really cold in AZ, but I'd rather not risk anything.

It is an autotragic. Considering this is the first time I've regularly driven an automatic in over four years, it is hard to think about stopping completely before moving again. It has jerked a couple of times, so I remember for the most part now.

I do miss my manual transmissions, heh. I'm sort of an advocate of the standard, but I know I'll have a car with a standard transmission in addition to the truck someday...
