Default 4.56 gears

Just got some brand new 4.56 gears installed into my differential....All i can say is that there is a significant power difference....and with the tru trac locker....the rear tires dont spin out as bad....But all i can say is for our underpowered trucks, bigger gears are definetely the way to go

I don't consider the 3.7 in the 1/2 pickup to be underpowered. It certainly has more hp than the LA318 in my 68 D100 and one and one half times the hp than the 225/6 in my 62 D100 Town Wagon!

You might have to SHIFT it more, but I can't complain about the 20 mpg.

Howard

Yeah, its def by far the best purchase yet. I needed it with the 34 inch tires. And the best part is I'm still getting 10 mpg.

About time someone did it, I swear there have been a ton of discussions on gears but nobody ever does it. Have you checked your mileage with the gears yet? Also what gears are you coming from 3.21's? I have 3.55's so I don't know how much I would notice.

I went from a 3.55, They say you even notice from 4.10 to 4.56. So it would be a night and day difference with you like it was for me.

so hawk...when you're going liek 70...what are you reving at? i know i'm stock, and when i'm cruising at 70, i'm pinned at 2k rpms..which is sweet...and is totally awesome for being able to go up in gears.

what's stock? like 355?

yeah i think 3.55's are the stock gears in the differential.....whatever they were they sucked. After adding the 4.56's I noticed a huge increase in power to the wheels
