Default Overhead mileage thingy...?

...is it accurate? I know I can figure it out when I fill up, but its nice to know what I am getting say cruising at 75 down the highway. Is that thing at all accurate?

In steady driving it is accurate and a useful gauge for your fuel economy. But in hilly terrain or if you're a heavy foot driver oft-times it will fluctuate quite a bit.

The Average Just Calculates What You Have Been Producing MPG Wise..

Best Way To Tell Is To Fill Your Tank Full, Reset Your Trip.. Run The Tank Almost Dry.

Miles Traveled/
Gallons In Tank =
MPG During That Tank fill.

I do a mix of city and highway, when I am on the highway the distance to empty will go down slower than in the city. I may do a couple of miles before it drops one mile. Say I am driving 30 miles to my destination and it reads that I can go 30 miles till empty, if in the city I will run out before I get there but on the highway I may have 10 miles to spare. It's according to about the last 100 miles that you have driven, it just keeps averaging your miles in.

It makes sense for sure, I noticed the same.

I know how to manually figure the average over a tank, but was just curious as to if the "right now" mileage is accurate, like if I want to know the mileage just criusing at 75, disregarding take offs, slow downs and spped-ups.

Thanks everyone

You lend out your truck? I NEVER lend my truck to anyone! Family or not. I will help them, you just don't get the truck for yourself. Red
