Can I also see current MPG with the average?
if you really want it
perhaps this relatively cheap & small scanner might be of interest:

Nearly any engine on any vehicle can be monitored with this Australian trip computer
which can pickup OBD-I or OBD-II signals
or even use an aftermarket fuel line sensor with any sort of mph sensor,
but it may just recently become un-available:

I had this feature on my 02 Ram. I upgraded the 4.7L to a Hemi in 2004. The 2004 truck didn't have the instant fuel economy. Just upgraded again to a 2007 diesel, and I still don't have it. I'm not sure why the option isn't there anymore.
My 02 Sierra had it, however when I was test driving vehicles I noticed that the new 07's didn't have it... Asked the dealer, and he said only the high-end (Cadillac) models have that now... Maybe it's considered a driving hazard... lol

^ That sucks. Not trying to rub it in but I sure am glad mine has it. My Subaru also has it and I'm obsessed with it. Sometimes its a little annoying as I am paranoid about getting into the throttle now, as I want to keep my average up.
I thought I would bring this post back from the dead. Does anyone have any new info that might help? Is this something that the dealer can flash the ECU to get it to show up? thanks.
