The KRC 210 cam is advertised to work with stock setups, and they list springs as not needing to be changed. This cam is advertised to put 320-330 hp to the rear wheels. It is wise to change them tho,the springs listed on KRC's web site are about 160.00$ and to me thats cheap insurance. HEMI's have been known to break springs with stock cams and a dropped valve is going to take the whole engine out. If you are swapping cams anyway, you will already have the rocker covers and rocker assembly removed. Its just another hour or so to swap springs.

You will need an air compressor, compression tester, overhead valve spring compressor, and possibly a "C" clamp.

remove one spark plug, use the compression tester hose to replace the spark plug, plug your air source into the comp tester line(this keeps the valve up)

plug all oil return drain holes with clean rags

use the overhead valvespring compressor to remove and replacethe spring*

* if you have the springs with the deflection cups on them(looks like a small garbage can around the bottom half of the spring) you may need the "C" clamp to secure the jaws of the valve spring compressor, the access slots in the cups are small.

WEAR EYE PROTECTION! These springs are under a lot of tension!

don't mean to hijack but just curious how bad is the loss in mpg on avg. for those that have installed cams?

Piggyback is no longer needed since the SCT tuner is out with Hemi support. I think Marty at KRC has even tamed the 273 with it...

Back to the original question, yes with any cam upgrade, you should upgrade the springs & retainers. Although some people have upgraded to mild cams like the 6.1 or 260 without doing the springs with no reported problems........ yet.
Not yet it's not. A couple of dealers have gotten a couple programmers but it is still in beta testing. They are still having code issues and frying PCM's.

Don't personally know of anyone with it yet, and I'm a couple of months away from having the funds to do the cam/sct thing, but KRC has been advertising them for the Hemi for a couple of weeks now...

I know...I know, but there have also been sites selling the Diablo's for 6 months now even though they are not out yet. There are two guys over on Dodge Talk that currently have SCT programmers and are working on trying to get all of the bugs worked out. They should be ready very shortly.
