Default 2006 1500 Big Horn 4.7 L Help

Anybody have any other suggestions for increasing HP and Torque on this truck? Already have a Volant CAI and Magnaflow Cat back. Need some suggestions cua I am pulling a Pontoon and need a little more power!! Considered the Jet Stage 2 Superchip, but I haven't heard anything or problems after the install (i.e. Check Engine, etc.).

yeach, check the common threads.

I know for the hemi;s at least. Jet chips are less than popular. Chip, gears would all help though. do you have a tow package? Keep up on your fluid changes. tranny and diff included.

There are several things that you can, gears, CAI, change the manual fan to an electric fan, exhaust etc. there are many threads that have ideas.

Looking for any suggestions on the chip though? I should tell you all that I am towing a 20 ft pontoon, so any extra boost in towing power will be appreciated. I didn't think I would be towing when I bought a 4.7L, but oh well, I gotta make do, the diesels are too damn expensive!

After your cat-back and CAI, the next logical choices are tuner (good luck on finding one with decent performance for your 4.7), e-fan, headers, gears and cam.
Even though I have the Hemi in my truck, my '02 Grand Cherokee Overland has the High Output 4.7 which is basically the stock 4.7 with the following upgrades from the factory:

Custom profile camshaft, forged crankshaft, crankshaft damper, low restriction intake (kinda like a CAI), larger diameter valve springs. Plus a hydraulic operated radiator fan.

So it basically has all the upgrades listed above except the gears and my GC really performs. I've owned a Grand Cherokee Limited(the ex has it now[:@])with the standard 4.7 and there is no comparison. The H.O. has gobs more HP and Torque that you can really feel.

With prices like they are and the 09 coming out I say go to the dealer and get a good deal on a Hemi. You will be surprised at what they will sell one for.

throw out the clutch fan, what gears do you have? 3.55 3.73 3.92
how far are you trailering the toon? Any inclines?

If I recall the stage 2 requires premium gas.

If youre towing a good ways you may look into a temp sensor for the tranny. Use amsoil severe gear for the diffs. If you have anything higher than a 3.92 you should look into getting a 4.10 pref a 4.56, if you already have the 3.92 with stock tires you won't see that much of an improvement for the price.

Looking into the new hemi isn't a bad idea as you get the good warranty out of it.

Remember it ain't how much you can tow, its how much you can stop.
