Default motor oil logic

alright guys this is what i do with my truck, please tell me if my thinking is flawed or if it's a good idea.

First of all I'm a mobil 1 guy. my two lawn mowers have mobil 1, my other car has mobil 1, and my motorcycle has mobil one motorcycle oil in it. When I purchased my 2007 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4.7 I was told that I have a lifetime powertrain warrenty as long as I
1) maintain the truck according to the manufactuer recommendations
2) bring my truck in every 5 years for a free inspection to see if i've been maintaining it properly, after the inspection my warrenty would be renewed for an additional 5 years

It says in the warrenty manual that all maintainance work done buy me or by a machanic must be documented by recipt if I want my warrenty to cover any work or parts that break down.

So what my thoughts are and what I do is when I change my oil I use NAPA (valvoline) oil and a napa gold filter. after I go through all the required maintainance procedures for my trucks milage I take my recipt for everything I purchased (oil, filter, ect.) I staple the recipt to that page in my warenty book and fill out the date and milage in the book.

So my thinking is
1) I use napa oil and filter because it cost approx. $18 an oil change compaired to $42 for mobil 1
2) Since I have to change my oil every 3000 miles to maintain my warrenty I wont get the extended benifit if I used a synthetic.
3) If my motor blows up at 400,000 miles what do I care, it has a lifetime warrenty and I will get a new one!
4) Even if Dodge shafts me and wont cover my motor under the lifetime warrenty I'll have saved approx. $3200 dollers by useing the dino oil as opposed to useing synthetic, that I can use as a down payment on a new truck or to buya new crate motor.

So thats my thoughts, I'm intristed in hearing what you think of my logic!

It sounds like you're doing everything right, in my opinion. But why would your warranty be voided if you chose to use Mobil1?
Mobil1 is a great oil, that's used in imports like Mercedes Benz/BMW, and i assure you that they do a oil change in those vehicles every 7500 miles.....I know this because a couple of guys at my job have those vehicles.........
As a matter of fact i was reading somewhere that in european countries they change their oils every 7500-1000 miles, and that only the United States changes oil every 3K miles.........because certain company's benefit when you change it every 3K miles.......
Personally i use Mobil1 extended service which is guaranteed at 15K miles. Now i won't take it that far. I'll probably change it at 9K miles or so......so that's about 3 oil changes saved as opposed to 1.
My .02 cents worth.

Its not that mobil 1 would void my warrenty my thought is why spend the extra money if I have to change it at 3000 or it will void my warrenty and why spend the extra money if my motors going to be covered if it blowes up

You have two lawn mowers a car and a motorcycle that uses mobile 1 sync. But big brother is watching you on your Dodge Ram and you put in Nappa oil !!! You must have mobile 1 laying around some wear in your garage. To save money I would put the mobile 1 in the dodge and after the oil change save the oil for the bike. But you have a good point!!! So take care of your Dodge any way you feel is right that’s the best logic I can give you.

ryland youre overthinking everything.....

portion of a PM from Parts Service a few weeks ago, had asked him about me using Amsoil 25k mile oil. I pay 9 bucks a quart and replace every 7500 miles even though its a 25k mile oil, the amsoil filter is a 25k mile filter as well, as far as your statement "extended benefit" my oil comes out cleaner at 7500 miles than any 3000 mile oil change with non synthetic that ive ever seen, its not that black crap that comes out....so thats got to say something...........

Parts Service----As long as the oil that you has has the label pictured below on it you should have no problem...This certifies the oil by the American Petroleum institute and is approved by Chrylser. Keep your receipts. The warranty manual says that you cannot be denied warranty coverage just because you cannot provide receipts. But if your engine gets sludged up. the dealer can call it abuse or lack of maintance and refuse to file a warranty claim...

Now if you really want to tell Chrysler to go F themselves on receipts buy a 55 gallon drum of oil and thell them to eat ****

I understand your point. But, i have to ask this anyway. So if you went to a Dodge dealership and requested an oil change, with Mobil1 synthetic. Would they still request that it be changed at a 3K mile interval?
If i were you, i would consult with an attorney and see if they can void your warranty on the basis that you decided to use a Mobil1 synthetic oil with an extended oil change interval, as opposed to a Dino type oil......

I'll just go to costco buy a 55 gallon drum and then return it without the recipt. That way I can keep the recipt incase they give me chrysler gives me s***

you really ought to look at using a synthetic, amsoil has a 15k oil as well, but the guy i get my oil from charges me about the same for the 25k oil. mobile makes a good 15k oil for about 7 bucks a quart, or just look for the 7500 k oil. I change it every 7500 just even though thats 1/3 of its stated life, just to be on the safe side.

And are you going to change your rear diff fuild every 15k miles????
