Default trailer lights are not working

Can you guys help me. I hooked up to my boat trailer yesterday, and the stock wire harness. I guess its stock. does not work. I checked the fuse in the eng. compartment. Correct me if i am wrong but its a 40a fuse. Just wondering if there were any more fuses or what should I be looking for to correct the problem.
Thanks

I spent an entire day when I had my bass boat, re-wiring the whole damn trailer, to no avail. Then I got smart enough to hook up to my wife's (at the time) Grand Cherokee and the damn trailer lightswere fine! It was the damn fuse! Felt like an idiot, but I guess you live and learn.

So, first thing I'd do after the fuse check would be to hook it up to another vehicle to determine if it's the truck or trailer.

I've also had the crimp on types of harness not work because I didn't crimp hard enough to get through the wire and make a connection. Not sure if the factory ones are just crimped on or not, but it's worth a look-see...

If you do determine it is your truck you can purchase a tester at most car part stores: ADAP, NAPA, AutoZone, etc;

They look something like this - http://www.trailertester.com/catalog.html scroll down to the middle fo the page. Is it your 7 or 4 way plug?

They work awesome and you can diagnose a trailer/tow vehicle very quickly. This has been an issue with some of the crowd I hang around with. We are either towing work trailers or boat trailers.

Good Luck!

^^^^^^^ What he said. Those testers are indispensable.

Check these fuses--I don't know if yours is an add on or integrated setup

That covers the fuses, there are also relays in the distr center along with the fuses----check the cover

I tried the fuses, and they are ok. The lights on the trailer are working because we usually tow with a trailblazer, and they work fine and I just bought this truck so I figured it give it a try.

if fuses are ok, make sure they are actually getting power? If not feed power to the output side of the fuse check your trailer connector a back if it works then repalce your intergrated power module. If it's and 05 or older, this is a big problem with these trucks.

a friend's 7pin connector on the truck wasn't wired right on his dodge...had to break out the multi-meter and check each lead and move it to the correct spot. could be the issue with yours....guess the guys on the assembly line were earning their $25/hr that day.
