Plowing with a 1500 QC
Is there anyone else out there that is crazy enough to plow with a 4.7 1500 QC? I get lots of negative comments about how the truck isn't made for the weight, due to the IFS.
I have a Fisher 7'6" RD, and it comes right off the truck as soon as I'm done pushing snow.
Will I regret this??
Thanks,
Kevin

you can beef up your front susp, ranchand here in tex does it all the time for the 1500s that want the big diamond plate front bumpers.
how much does the plow weigh?
have you thought about strapping your woman to the hood of the car and let her hot air just melt it?
the other issue is just not the weight of the snow, the resitance the snow will create is not a lateral force, it is a slightly downward force thus creating a great deal of strain on your front end.

According to Fisher, the blade weighs 630lbs, and I use 250-300 for ballast in the bed.
Ramit, I don't think that the wife would go for that, but I'll bring it up next time it snows...

the key is just getting her tied on the hood, then the hot air will come naturally.
maybe theres a way to install a landing gear style attachment behind the plow, basically a shock mounted underneat the beam connecting the plow to the truck, extended down supporting a tire it would lighten the load. havent seen anything like that but it would work, dont know if it would be cost effective.

I think its something that Dodge puts in there literature. I wouldn't know why companies would make plows for them if you can't use them for plowing. I mean after all, they make plows for most Jeeps, Explorers and I've seen some S Blazers with plows on them. Actually have seen several ½ ton trucks with plows on them.
