Ihad 1 12" mtx (not the best brand i admit..but decent) being pushed by a jl audio amp 250 wattsx1 in a regular cab ram and thatgave me headaches it hit so hard.Like everything else you get what you pay for.jl audio 10w0 subs hit hard with just a 100 watts (clean quality power). I put my sub in the same box you have pictured...it was $59 for the box....worked great. If youre gonna run 2 pioneer subs in those boxes youcould get a quality 500 watt mono amp (kicker, alpine, jl to name a few)and it would pound. Its not always about big numbers. You can get a cheap 1000 watt amp or a quality 500 watt amp and the quality one is gonna sound better all day. Ive installed about 15 amplifiers in a dozen or so different cars and thats what ive discovered. Sealed enclosures need more powerbut have a tighter bass response. Ported enclosures take less power but aren't going to hit as cleanly. Just my .02
Youmount under the rear seat...you can install one or two subs depending on if you want to give up all your underseat space or half of it. Im wondering where someone would put the amp ifthey installed two subs.
it looks like the the front dashpiece pops out (closest to the base of the w shield) and use a stubby screwdriver or slotted bit on a ratchet to undo the speaker mounting screws and take them out. Or they could be mounted to the dash piece themselves....mazda installs them that way.(havent installed dash speakers on the 3rd gen ram yet but thats what i was told and its seems just like a typical dash speaker installation)
to get beack to subwoofers, im getting a a lpine mrp m-500 amp to power a mtx 4500 sub. I know the amp is already too powerful but in the mean time until i get the mtx 7500 sub will turning the gain down lessen the power the sub gets. The amp pust out 300rms at 4ohms and 500rms at 2ohms. the sub is and embarrasing 220rms.Ive researched quite abit and still do no the difference between ohms. Is there a setting on the amps or what to switch between the two.
