MickeyThompson MTZ
Hey guys,
Im pretty new to posting but I have been reading a lot about wheels and tires. I was looking at getting a set of mickey thompson classic II's 18x10 with a -20 or 24 offset cant remember which. I was wondering if any of you guys knew if a set of mickey thompson mtz 33x13.5 would fit without rubbing. The truck is an 03 4x4. Also considering a leveling kit as well.
Thanks
Chris

33's can fit without a leveling kit and I am told 34's too, but that seems a little too close. I would suggest the leveling kit. I just got mine and my truck seems to ride like it should have riden all along.
Your heigth won't be an issue, but the width might be. A 10" rim and the 13.5 MTZ's are pretty darn wide, I would make sure the offset is right because that might be the deciding factor. A level kit would be nice, especially with tires that wide.
An offset of -25 is going to put severe strain on your wheel bearings and other suspension parts. That's putting the centerline of the wheel a inch outside the mounting surface, making the track TWO INCHES wider.

MikeH, you are very close to right, but you forgot that he is going to a 10" wide rim as compared to a stock 9" wide rim, so with a -25 offset you are actually gaining 3" in track width not 2. How much stress this puts on his suspension I am not sure, but running bigger and wider stuff seems commenplace now days and I amsure there are a few that don't have the stock offset. That being said something closer to 0 offset would be easier with a 10" rim I would guess.
I have the Classic II's in 17x9 flavor, -12mm offset. Very pleased with them.
I also really like the MTZ as a tire choice. I opted for the Cepek FCII's because of the 320+ miles I traveled once a month or so to my hunting/fishing/off-road land I have in GA, figuring a A/T - M/T hybrid would last a little longer on the interstate trips to get there & back. If not for that factor, I'd have gotten the MTZs in a heartbeat...
