Default mopar oil filter

do any of you guys know if the mopar oil filter they sell at walmart the right one for our trucks? I think the part # is M-090. I heard that the mopar filters used to suck but they are now made by purolator and are good now. Anyone know about that or cut one open?

I dont know who the vendor is or the correct part number for trucks, but I used them for the first year on my daughters Caliber because there were none available in the aftermarket. I had no problems with them at all.

Sounds right. Here's what's in the '07 manual (see attached).

I bought that filter once from Wal-Mart, no troubles. Then I saw this (referred to in another post), which you may have seen:

http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...ilfilters.html

So now I'm using a Fram TG-16. Not the best, but it's not the worst.

Maybe you have information that's more current than this oil filter study? If the Mopar filters nowadays are really Purolators, I'll switch back....

Right part number. They only have a few part numbers for oil filters. The 090 is good for my Hemi and Viper engines and I use them on all 3. I recently changed to them. I was using M1 and Fram, depending on the car. But with the M1 on my SRT Ram it would make a whinning noise at startup, it was due to the filter. That is what made up my mind to only by a Mopar filter for all my cars.

I just got this filter for my truck and it did not fit. The threads were way too small and it looked nothing like the one on there from the factory.

I think they changed the filter for the '08s. I remember back when they hit the market a lot of posts about filters not fitting...

when I took the one off my ram that came with it from the factory the belt type oil filter wrench I used crushed it. Thats only happened before with the cheapest filters I've ever used.
