is this common or just me?

all low speed and low RPMs it almost sounds like i got a blower on the Ram, once you get to the 1,200+ range it goes away, i only really notice it in parking lots.

fluid is full.

is this a dodge this or what?

 

ive replaced my pwr steering pump three times.......i was reading a forum yesterday about a rack and pinion leaking......now i know the pumps are no good....they dont have enough ***** for the monsterous front end....but im thinkin if thats incorrect then the rack and pinion is leaking......i found to correct the problem just never max your turn radius out....it puts added strain on a pwr steering pump thats already a piece of ****.....if you do replace it it only takes about 15 - 20 mins....anyway hopefully thats helpful good luck

 

Mine is loud too. I can't hear it with the windows up though.

its not screaming loud but i notice it, ive tryed listening to other rams but i dont just follow them around.

 

I would just keep an eye on the fluid and make sure it is properly filled. If it breaks I am sure it is a cheap part to replace.

 

i get a whining sound at idle or slow speed but never leaks, it does seem to sway a lot though down the road.could this be the pump?

 

that sounds like a rack and pinion prob...or your wheels are unbalanced

 

Mine makes a lot of noise also. So does both of my neighbors Dodge Caravans. I think that it is a Dodge issue.

 

rack and pinion diy? i got 44,000 mi and brand new tires it drives straight when u let go of the wheel but...... um maybe its me lol

 

My 07 whined since it was new. It's a new Dodge thing. My 72 GMC doesn't. 03 Vette no, 99 F-250 nothing, and even the old 92 Dakota is quiet. Oh well.....
