03-06 bullydog "power pup" programmer?
Alright i just bought the bullydog "power pup" for my 04 dqc hemi....I want to hear some opinions on this programmer???? Was it the right choice for my truck or should i throw the dam thing out????? let me know....
Is there a reason why you would throw out your tuner? Are you having problems? Your post is harsh and pointless with the 2 options given.
I love mine, good buy and I recommend it to all that asks about it. I also recommend the Superchips though too. It is more of which ever one you can find for the better money. They both do the same thing tune wise , but each ahs its plus and minuses.
Explain more of why you seem to be upset with it and maybe we can help you out or PM me if you wish not to have it public.

sorry for not be specific enough....basically its that i really dont feel that it made a real big difference to my truck...maybe i did something wrong when i installed it but not really feeling the difference....what model do you have??
iforgot to say that i bought it"used" of ebay, maybe i got a bad unit.? But how would i even know if its a bad unit or not? I did get it for a good deal though $200...
That is a great price. I have a few questions though.
What tune did you upload?
What other mods do you have?
What gas are you running?
Have you updated the tuner since you bought it from the Bully Dog site?
All these things factor in on how well your tuner works. Let me know.

No!, maybe thats the problem it has to be updated. Is it hard to do?
Also what gear shifts would you recommand on my truck for the best results?

I would also like to hear some opinions on this. I am currently stuck between this and the superchips.
What exactly are the plus/minuses of each.

If you want to notice a difference, do the following.
*First, put your truck back to the stock tune.
*Goto bullydogs website and download/install their update manager for the programmer. Just follow the directions.
*Update you tuner as the program suggests. (it's not hard, but tricky if your computer illiterate)
*If your tank has regular gas in it, run it down to a quarter tank or less and fill up with GOOD preimium gas (93 octane). I mean like Mobil, chevron, shell, etc.
*Now upload the PREMIUM TUNE from the programmer. This is the best tune for mileage and power.
*Last thing is run the crap out of your truck NOW!!!!!!!
Ok, you asked about the shift points. Don't do anything with these now. Stay with the stock settings. You are able to adjust these settings if you do a heads/cam set up later that can handle the higher rpm shifts. If you increase the shift points, you WILL throw a rod or something bad. Like I said, that feature is there for you WHEN you do a heads/cam upgrade.
Final note: Before you update your tuner EVER, always put the truck back to the stock tune first. Do the update, then retune the truck with the new tune. If you update first, then try to reload a new tune when your truck is not stock tuned, you take a chance of overloading the truck CPU and then your screwed.
Hope this helps.

Superchips: + faster on tuning and updating of tuning
+ shifts points are little firmer than the BD (only noticeable at WOT)
- More money usually
- Customer service (as found by many on this forum) is not real good
Bully Dog: + Usually cheaper
+ Update mgr for tuner always being checked when connected to interenet
-Slower on the tuning and updating portion
? Customer service - never needed to contact them.
When people ask which one to buy, I always say look for the one that you can get for the best price. And if you buy used MAKE SURE THAT THE TUNER IS VIN UNLOCKED. Meaning the previous owner put his truck back to the stock tune before selling it. Superchips will unlock their tuner for $100 plus shipping but Bully Dog will not.
