Default You guys recomend this?

The only brand of cold air intakes that Im familiar with are the K&N ones.

What do you guysthink about this one?

There is one thing I don't understand about these filters. The stock air filteris enclosed in a box. How does an extreme sandy/dusty environment affect these cold air intake filters? They are out in the open. Also, when driving 2000 mile road trips, how will these cold air intakes filters hold up? Any precautions to take? Do I need to remove it and replace it with the stock covered one?

That blue cone is the filter. The box isn't providing much protection from sand/dust. You shouldn't have any issues with that. I used a TrueFlow kit, which retains the stock airbox, but has a reusable filter and a pipe direct to the throttle body.

there are people on here that bought a cheap ebay CAI for a fraction of the price and gets almost the same amount of power as the $200-500 CAI's. personally, id get an ebay setup for much less (i think $40-60) and get 80-90% of the power for 30% the price.

I have been running the AFE High Breather model you are showing on my 05' Hemi since the truck was new along with other mods too. I like the quality of the AFE CAI and I've been pleased with the function and the durability. I'm a member of the HTC but you can buy the AFE much cheaper than they advertise on the HTC site. Just don't expect miracles out of this one or any CAI - in fact in many standard applications the stock MOPAR setup will work best overall.

My 2 cents worth***

I got this on mine, and absolutely love it. Spending 5 bills sounds assenine to me for a cold air gettup.

Oh yeah, you don't need to worry about high dust situations. You would just have to clean it more often.

Paired up with a good/great exhaust system and you got yourself a winning combo. Promise.

this would be a better setup if they removed the hemi hat (box that says "hemi" on it connected to the throttle). The hemi hat has baffles in it that help reduce sound, but also reduce air flow. This is why some people dont notice the hemi tick when they have the stock intake on, yet when they put on a CAI it magically appears. if your not worried about looks just go to the home depot/lowes, get a piece of 3" pvc, a 3" 90*, a 3" fernco coupler, and get a big dryflow air filter with a 3" inlet...for about $60-$70 you will have pretty nice CAI for alot cheaper, and you can tell people you made it

I have an '07 Ram 1500 HEMI and my dad has an '05 Ram RumbleBee and we both run the Volant cool air intakes on 'em. It is a great set up and my dad gets 18.5 mpg and I get on avg 17 cuz I'm 4x4 Quad Cab. It's an excellent set up and we both run the exact same kit on ours even though we're different years. They make a RAM AIR scoop for it but it requires you to remove one of the fog lights so we opted against that. It really unleashes that HEMI and lets it breathe. Definantly a noticable difference!
