Hello all, new guy here with a couple of questions. Just purchased a 2008 SLT QC, 1500. This is my first pickup and first Dodge (after 30 years of driving ford vans). Did you get a cigaret lighter with your truck? There was a socket but no lighter, dealer says its an option now. I also have the tow package but did not get the harness for the brake controller. Dealer says as of 2008 they are no longer shipped with the vehicle, but they can sell me one. I think after paying all this $ they would give me a lighter and harness without complaining. [:@] Did anybody here buy an 08 and get these items included?

 

Those came with the 07. The harness for the brake controller was in the glove box.

I'm pretty sure they are lying to you. They wouldnt sell a new truck missing the lighter piece.

 

A lighter is NOT an option or you could pick it on the dodge.com website when building a truck

As for the harness I can not say one way or the other. I think I recall someone saying it may be in the drivers side kick panel, I know I never got one, but who knows, could be in the kick panel.

Out the dealership. Sounds like a bad one.

 

Tell them you want that stuff included. My 07 came with that stuff.

 

They finally gave me the lighter but the sales guy said he paid $10 to buy it from the dealership since they don't include them anymore. On the way out I stopped in the lot and looked at some of the trucks - the two I looked athad the lighters in them. He also showed me on a PC in the parts department that the brake harness is no longer shipped with the truck in the glove compartment. Says they cost $50 but will sellit to me for $21. I told him just because it didn't ship with the truck they could still give it to me as part of the tow package. Salesman is now pissed at me, I'm waiting to hear from the manger.

 

My 08 SLT came with the lighter, I had to check since I've never used it. I checked my window sticker and it was not listed as part of any option package I ordered. As far as the brake controller harness, if I've got one its hidden somewhere, certainly not in the glove box, and I do have the tow package. Its not listed on my window stricker as a component of the tow package, only the 7 pin wiring harness is listed.

 

Not every truck comes with a lighter. If your truck came with the round seven pin connector on the rear bumper, it should have came with the trailer brake pigtail in the glove box or in the storage area under the rear seat. If it only came with the four way flat trailer connector under the truck, then it did not come with the trailer brake pigtail. And if you have to buy one, call a different dealer and ask the price. They DO NOT cost $50.00. I sell them for $18.00. Better yet, call the parts department of your selling dealer and ask them now much part # 5019922AA is...When they give you the price, you call see just what makes salesmen look bad....

 

My 08 Mega Cab 1500 SXT came with cigarette lighter and pig tail harness in the glovebox, but I do have the 7 pin trailer connector on the bumper.

Hey ironhead, where are you located? I have the harness for trailer brakes and I dont use it (controller I bought came with a harness premade for dodge) if you want it you can have it for shipping cost.
