Cracked Dash
Ok check this out. I have a 98Ram 1500 with 75k Miles on it and somewhere around 60k milesmy dash started falling apart. I went to my trusty Dodge dealer and spent like $300 on a new dash pad along with 2 days of labor and I was back to new again (Ialso tinted the entire windshield with 5% Limo tint so this doesn't happen again). Now I also have a 2003 Ram 1500 with 30k miles on it and what do you know the dash on it is falling apart as well. I called Dodge and the first priceI got was $ $498 for the new dash parts. I called the factory and they were kind enough to take care of me by covering the cost of the parts once the truck had been seen by my local dealers service manager. The manager tells me that he has the parts in stock and could fix it the next day for $97.50 labor. Now considering they wanted $500 to fix my 98 I quickly dropped the truck off. The next day I get a call saying they didn't have the parts. The new cost of the parts went up to $989 which lucky for me Dodge is going to cover. However, the labor went from $97.50 to $498. I smell scam but at least I am saving $989 on parts. Has anyone else had issues with their dash and what did it cost you to fix it?
I have a 97 with a cracked dash and the previous owner kept a dashmat on it. When I bought it I took that off and about a year later a crack showed up straight down the middle. I slapped some epoxy on it and bought another dashmat to cover it up. Sold that one and bought my 03, about a month aftre I bought it I had a small crack so I bought another dashmat, then about a month after that it was cracked all the way from the windshield to the glove box. The dealer wants about 1200 bucks to replace it, I'm not willing to pay for it just yet.
Have a 03, no problem with the dash, i had a 94 w/ 350,000 mi on it when i sold it, and id had no dash problem eather and it was always outside in the direct sun most of it's life... maybee you should get a cover. LMC Truck had plastic covers that you use adhesive to stick to your dash $120-130 yrs 94-05.
Azcummins already had his dash take **** on him after just a few thousand miles.

Do you have it in writing where he said they would do it for $97.50? If you do make him stand by that price, theres no way it should go up $400 overnight..if he gives you a hard time go to the manager of the dealership and b!tch at him (if there are other customers there make sure you loud about it). If he wont help you out then get thephone # for the local dodge rep, or call dodge up and b!tch, and dont back down. Im pretty sure you will end up getting it done for $97.50 or maybe even for free..Also if you still have a warrenty I would think it would be covered
