my 03 QC gets about 17mi/13mi. But if he is looking for a new 1/2 ton, it has MDS so it is supposed to get even better mileage.

I have an 06 1500 QC and honestly it will depend if your dad has a heavy foot. If I am in it then i get crap around town, if I drive smart I can get 14-15 in town and 20ish on the highway. But that is waaaaaaaaaaaay to much work to get that mileage and I often find my foot getin a lil heavy

13 around town, 16 on trips with 35" tires, close to 7000 lbs. in lift & mods and no MDS.
Might as well go for the Hemi, with MDS it gets about the same MPGs as the 4.7 V8 and a lot more power...

Sorry I am calling BS.

I would not tell your dad that unless you want to **** him off. No Hemi Ram is averaging 20MPG unless it spends 100% of its time on the highway, which is hard to do.

On winter gas I get 13.5 on average, with normal mix gas I get about 14.7. That was before changing my tries though, I expect to take a little hit. I drive about 16 city miles for every 10 highway miles, or about 60% city. This is non-MDS, MDS will give you .5-1MPG more.

One other thought, if your dad is concerned about gas milage he should wait for the 09. More power and better milage. Although the truck will probably cost more than an 08if you buy one early in the 09 model year. I doubt Dodge will be offering incentives like they are today.
