Default 5.7 L Vs. 6.0L

Hey all, a friend of mine got a new truck last week, it’s a 06 GMC Sierra 4x4 4Dr 6.0L. It looks really nice (black), Just wondering how you guys think we'd do IF we were going to race. Both of our trucks are pretty much stock.

Sounds interesting. I've lost to 6.0s before (Silverado SS) but that's not quite an apples-to-apples comparison since I'm dragging around 6000 lbs of 4WD glory. I ran 15.9s after mods while the SS trucks did easy 15.20s.

The LQ9 has the same hp/tq rating as the hemi but it's mated to amore efficent drivetrain...powerwiseI think he has you. Depending on the weight of both trucks it could be a good race..

Don't know specs on the '06, but current modelGM1500's with the optional 6.0L V8 claim 367 HP and 375 lb./ft. of torque. Current Dodge 1500's with the Hemi claim 345 HP and the same 375 lb./ft. of torque. From what I understand the GM has a slightly more efficient tranny that doesn't lose quite as much power getting to the rear wheels as we do. Truck weights are similar.
Based on those numbers, I'm not quite so sure I'd race for "pinks"...

Heh I just found out that his transmission is messed up. He bought it a week ago at the local Dodge dealer. Had to have it towed to the dealer.

Mt neighbor has A2007 trailblazer SS and he has already had to rebuild his tranny. Luckily for him he works at the local Chebby dealership and did it himself at no cost to him. The trans went 3 weeks after he mapped and tuned his engine. I have to give him Cudos on the tune, that is one wicked fast SS!

i've beaten a couple SS silverados...mainly due to the weight difference that my truck is only 2WD and a few mods i have to compensate for the power loss from the trans....i'm lookin at maybe tryin to buy a 2010 SRT8 challenger....gonna be some good prices on em
