I think I was taken!
the ****ty thing about mechanics is no matter what you have to be polite to them when they have your truck, and a lot of the times the only way to get it back is pay the bill. I'm not familiar with the mechanical parts of our trucks but what he charged sounds extremely high. Good luck with gettin some money back.
Damn,
I'm glad I do my own work.
Upper and lower ball joints, yah, they can be a pain in the ***, but not that much. I can't understand why he needed a torch for any of it. Usually, an impact chisel will easily cut the rivets, then grade 8 bolts to replace, but torch cutting your stuff, sounds like a shade tree shop that doesn't have the know how, tools, or respect for a customers vehicle.
You definitly need an itemized list of components replaced and the charge for doing each component. And it doesn't hurt to demand all the old parts back just to be sure that they really were changed.
Doesn't sound right to have that much for that kind of work.
You might call a dealership and find out the charge for doing the same thing there---and compare notes.
Then possibly negotiate a better price--or refund in your case
Good Luck!!
