Default Oxygen Sensor???

I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9 V8. The truck currently has 101,000 miles and it had a full tune-up within 10k miles and a new rear end 3k miles ago. I'm getting about 10.6 mpg, slightly rough idle, runs rich,85mph with the pedal to the floor on the freeway, and has zero pulling power. I have a 18ft ski boat and going up hills on the highway I start off at 55ph, then it usually drops 15mph with my foot down to the floor. I have used a 1993 GMC with 180K miles and a 350 and it pulls it like it's not even there. The engine is stock except for a k&n air filter. Could it be the oxygen sensor?

Sounds like a miss..throwing any codes? Check all the plug wires and make sure they're on all the way from your last tune-up. I'd replace the cap and rotor too...but the main point of this is to make sure you're getting spark at all 8 cylinders.

With that many miles it wouldn't hurt to replace the pre-cat o2's...nothing but good can come from it.

Would the check engine light come on if it was throwing codes?. If so the light is not on. I already checked the plug wires and they are all on. I will check and see if the cap and rotor was replaced when I had the wires and plugs done.

Torque converter....could be but it wouldn't cause the truck to run rich or have a rough idle. Your truck could have multiple probs though.

yeah i was just thinking about the lack of power when towing...

as for running rich did you install a 180 or 160t stat or maybe yours is stuck open, thatll cause it to run a lil rich..
