I'm actually really surprised how good it'll actually get on the highway. Ramit, thought you had a hemi for some reason. Anyway, the needle sure does move much slower with highway driving than in the city!

my overhead is reading about 15.3 with mostly city driving. the only time i checked it manually was pulling my trailer and it was about 9.0

worse than I expected...12-13 around town, 16 highway at 70mph, 14.5 at 80mph. This is on a 1-week old '08 4x4 6spd with about 1500 miles on the clock.

Actually, that's about what I get with my '08 1500 4x4 w/ an automatic. I did a little testing early on with it to see what the mileage was like w/ E85 vs. Gasoline.

With Gasoline, it was about 14.7 mpg (calculated by dividing the miles on the tripmeter by the actual gallons since the last fill up.)
With E85, it was about 11.2 mpg (calculated the same way)

wow. im surprised by these results. i wouldve imagined better mpg than us HEMI guys. the hwy mpg's look waaaaay low. i get 20++ on hwy going under 70. 70-75 around 19-20 and 80 is 18-20. city is horrible for me at around 8-9mpg (hills and many lights and stop signs in cali). i guess the HEMI, even with the 5.7L vs the 4.7L and 3.7L gets the best mpg. thats odd.

The hemi has the MDS, which helps at normal freeway speeds. It doesn't do anything the rest of the time, though, so the 4.7 does better then.

The 11.2 mpg stated above was for E85, which is 85% alcohol, 15% gasoline. Alcohol has less heat energy in it than gasoline, so you have to burn more of it to make the same power. The engine computer automatically increases the fuel flow when you run E85 to compensate.

isnt E85 much cheaper and does it pay off in the long run?
