Low profile is sleek, but not practical! If you carry a 5 gallon bucket with any tools it won't even fit in there! Don't worry about losing any vision out your rear window because you can hardly see it because of the rear seat height! I have had "Better Built" in my dakota and not in my Ram and they are a very sturdy box and I have had no problems with it!

I have a low pro box in mine, im not a contractor but i carry jumper cables, tools, tow straps, tie downs etc. IMO its great, i love it. I still have room to toss more junk in there if i needto. However, im thinking about getting a tailgate extender and hard bed cover with a plastic bin for all that crap.

All i can say is, it works for me well. If you want to go with the cover tho, why not just save the cash to get it...may as well make it the way you want and not just "settle" for something?

i have been looking at a tool box for my short bed ram (6") but then i really want a full bed cover (looking at the low profile one). What to do????? don't like the two-in-one that i have seen on the market. Basically i am stuck deciding either tool box or full cover. [sm=confused06.gif]

I have had boxes in my last three trucks, and I have to say they are great to a point, the limiting factor is size. As mentioned, the low profile box is just too low for my use, and the standard profile box does not interfere with vision. The advantage of a box over a cover is mostly that you still have plenty of "open" bed for other stuff, of course it is exposed, but it works for thinks like bikes, firewood, BBQ(try and get a BBQ in a box). I also feel that the boxes are more secure than a cover, except the ones that are made of the same diamond plate aluminum. Both boxes and covers work, it is just a preference thing.

Good luck

If you want a canopy then go for the in box type, otherwise go for the gusto....
