Just joined the forums here and I purchased my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Daytona just last week. My check engine light randomly came on today while driving on the highway. Truck has 36k mi, has been running great all week. I only drive maybe 15-20miles a day total. I guess my question is should i just run it by Autozone to see if comes up on the code reader? The other thing i was wondering...i have a '96 Dodge Avenger and with that car you can do what they call the "key dance" and turn the key to ACC and off back and forth 3x and the check engine light will blink in a sequence to throw you a code. Do the Rams have any tricks like that?

 

i know the key trick works on 02's but think someone on here had an issue with another model a lil bit newer.. if the key doesnt work for you just go to AZ, its free.. no sense in chancing it..

The key trick will work. key on-off-on-off-on, gauge cluster will light up and the codes will flash where the odometer usually is. Nice truck, what # daytona do you have? Those wheels look sweet...Oh I almost forgot to tell you, the silver daytona's are faster than the go mango daytona's....J/K

 

You moron its not the color that makes it go faster, everyone knows its the stickers that you put on it that matter. LOL.

The burnt orange is the best color on a dodge hands down.

 

LOL. yea. the "typeR" stickers are worth 50hp...I wanted to get a gomango daytona, but they just had silver when I was ready to buy; and im not the type of person who likes to wait so I ended up with a silver 4x4 reg cab. In all seriousness im kinda happy now I got this truck, the silver 4x4 reg cabs are the rarest daytonas

 

yeah same here, I looked at dodges online, found a tchevy I liked, had a friend drive me to the tchevy lot so I could drive it home, then decided to look at a dodge, saw it, liked it, got the keys and was gone. All within an hour. I don't understand why people say its an ordeal buying a truck, hell it only took my 27 min to close on my house, tilde em have everywhere I needed to sign highlighted.
My 2 main concerns were quad can and 4x4 so I went ahead with that one.
