Put in new engine and now seems sluggish
Hey everyone, thanks for viewing. Well I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 slt. I went mudding and killed my stock engine, so I put it in the shop and the guys were able to find an engine for it with about the same mileage (about 38,000) but they said it came off a durango or a dakato, cant remember which one they said.. but i think they said durango. Well.. the problem is now the truck doesnt seem to have any ***** to it and it seems to use more fuel. But the truck runs great and idles, no rpms dropping or any chugs.. just smooth idle engine... its just the truck doesnt have the pick up and go like it use to. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris

which engine did you have before and what kind of engine is the new one? if you had a HEMI at first then they stuck a 5.9 or 4.7 or maybe even a 3.7 in there, id see why.
that shouldnt harm it. how about you pop the hood open and make sure it is the 4.7 then. you should get your truck dyno'd and see what num, bers its putting up to make sure that its that engine.
yeah man, i did that lol. Im not an idiot. Its the 4.7 just i hope the engine have the milage they stated it had.. the shop seemed pretty legit but i dont know now. Ever since i got it back, the truck isnt the same.. i had fault codes come on and off, transmission problems, it didnt want to shift, then like 2 hours later it was fine.. Yeah.. its great
lol. gotcha! just tryna help. take it back and have them fix the problems that arose after they put in the new engine. thats not right man. or maybe they stuck an older 4.7 in there? hmm... all i can think of is get it dyno'd, find out the power and match it up to an 05 4.7L engine and see what the deal is.

it was putting up some transmission codes but now im not getting any at all. Also a knock 1 sensor was comming up. But that went away.. It was weird, they would come on for a day and go off.... latley everything is fine... just seems to drink more fuel than before and a little less power
Spend a few bucks and get it tuned or better yet dynoed. Make sure the compression is good. If it were me I would want to know the pedigree and history of the engine. Good luck, that would be tough for me to swallow (fast to slow).
