When is the oil change indicator supposed to pop up? Mine is already calling for an oil change at 4 weeks old and 2500 miles! The regular oil change interval is supposed to be 6000 miles, but I was going to change it at 5000. I know the truck was built back in 2007, so is there a time thing as well as a mileage thing?

Also, why is the filter so small? WalMart didn't have a Mopar oil filter to fit it (didn't even list it), but they had Fram, and Super Tech (WalMart) and Motorcraft. The 4.7 uses the same filter as my Explorer Sport Trac 4.0 V6! The Motorcraft is supposed to be very good, and Fram is not, but Super Tech is supposed to be good, too, so I got a Super Tech for it, and 5W30 Pennzoil Platinum.

I think it just pops up every 2500 miles. I had my first change last week at 2400 miles and the indicator came on right after I hit 2500. You probably already know but to turn it off turn ignition to on - don't start - press accelerator 3x within 10 sec and then turn ignition to off.

do all the new rams have an oil change indicator? I have a 2007...does mine have one? I have never seen it, but maybe its because the dealer has changed my oil every 3 months since I bought the truck new last June.

get this, i bought mine from gunn dodge in SA, had free oil changes for a year, well i want syth right? well so they just back out the reg oil change price from the synth price, well they still wanted about 65 bucks...

My oil indicator light comes on about 500 miles early. Not sure what triggers it, oil level is fine. I have have only had one oil change, just about due for another one.If gas prices continue to rise I will have no choice but to do my own oil changes.

Mercedes actually recommends oil changes w/Mobil 1 0w40 every 10-13k miles. Our service advisor has argued with me several times because I like to take our e320 cdi in every 7500mi or so for some fresh Mobil 1.

My truck will be on a 10k oil change interval with Mobil1.
